Come join us for a hands-on STEM rocket adventure where youth get to build their own recovery system and then watch their rocket take flight!
We'll provide the 3D-printed model rocket, and you'll get to create one of the most important parts yourself: the parachute!
Using simple, recycled materials such as grocery bags ,dental floss, and elastic cord, you'll design and build a parachute to help your rocket safely return to Earth.
Each participant receives a 3D-printed model rocket prepared for the activity.
You'll learn about:
Here's where your creativity takes over!
Using everyday recycled materials, you'll create your own rocket parachute.
Materials may include:
You'll measure, cut, assemble, and attach your parachute to the rocket.
Will a larger parachute work better?
What happens if it's smaller?
Does the shape make a difference?
That's where the STEM challenge comes in!
Watch your rocket climb into the sky and see whether your homemade parachute brings it safely back to Earth.
This activity combines science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics into one hands-on experience.
